Our Body Therapies

We offer a variety of Ayurvedic Body Therapies from our warm and private office in North Seattle. Our three main treatments are Abhyanga, Dhara, and Kati Basti as well as a combination of all three for a complete Ayurvedic rejuvenation.

Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Massage)

Abhyanga is a therapeutic massage that incorporates a classical herbal oils to provide relaxation, nourishment, and detoxification. During an abhyanga session, your therapist will use a combination of long, sweeping strokes and gentle kneading techniques to help loosen tight muscles and release toxins from the body. Abhyanga can help you achieve physical and emotional balance and promotes your overall well-being. Full-body abhyanga, the most commonly recommended therapy, offers a soothing lymphatic drainage to detox and relax treatments.

Recommended Treatment: One time or as a set of 3, depending on the condition.

Dhara (Flow Therapy)

Called the “bliss therapy of Ayurveda,” Dhara therapies deeply calm the nervous system as well as have a restorative effect on the hormonal and immune system. In Shirodhara, a form of Dhara therapy, we apply a steady stream of medicinal oil or milk over your forehead. Profoundly nourishing the pineal gland, Shirodhara encourages the production of melatonin and serotonin, making it a very supportive therapy for healthy sleep and energy cycles and in overcoming adrenal fatigue.

Recommended Treatment: Over 3 consecutive days or 1 day per week over 3 consecutive weeks.

Basti (Pain Treatment)

Basti is a holistic approach to treating pain, most commonly in the lower back. This natural and effective treatment alleviates pain and inflammation and targets deeper issues that may be causing the pain. Basti involves creating a small dam of dough (Urad lentil flour) around your lower back and filling it with medicated oil. The medicated oil helps to strengthen muscles and tissues and can help to improve flexibility. Basti treatments can be done on the lower back, along the spine, and on the neck, knees, hips, and more. The aim of Basti is to stimulate self-healing, thereby promoting balanced health and well-being.

Recommended Treatment: Over 3 consecutive days or 1 day per week over 3 consecutive weeks.
