A Culture of Well-being: An Introduction

Hello everybody and welcome to the Natural Rhythms Podcast, “A Culture of Wellbeing”. This is an introduction:

Natural Rhythms Integrative Medicine (NRIM) is a holistic health-care clinic offering of natural alternatives for management and prevention of chronic diseases.

NRIM is dedicated to offering combination of evidence-based natural medicine and time-tested ancient wisdom on spiritual practice. NRIM seeks to empower its patrons with the knowledge and understanding of tools to aid in self-care, disease prevention, and freedom from dis-ease.

I am Dr. Anup Mulakaluri; I am Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, Shamanic practitioner, and Qi Gong teacher.

I was born in India and spent the formative years of my childhood immersed in the culture of natural medicine; that is, Ayurvedic medicine and the spiritual traditions of the Indian subcontinent.

After moving to the United States at the age of 14, I became increasingly interested in the study of biology and medicine. In 2007, I completed an undergraduate in Molecular and Cellular Biology University of California, Santa Barbara. Then, completed certification as an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor (AWC) from Kerala Ayurveda Academy in CA.

I studied of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, in Kenmore, WA. The time at Bastyr benefited me in developing my aptitude in modern natural medicine, mental health, Spirituality, and Energy medicine. Upon graduating in 2013, I had earned a Doctorate of Naturopathy as well as completed additional training in Mindfulness meditation, shamanism, and Qi Gong.

I returned the roots of Ayurveda during residency with my Naturopathic mentor Dr. Virender Sodhi, at the Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Medical Clinic (ANMC).

During my residency, I began to realize the importance of adopting a “culture of well-being” as the ideal way of creating internal and external environment for cultivating health, thus healing disease and preventing illness.

A culture is a container, like a basket, woven with the threads of beliefs and behaviors. Culture informs us who we are and where we belong… “A culture of well-being” informs us what is best for our health and wellness at all times – it is something that is adapted from models like Ayurveda; individualized, then applied to cultivate optimal well-being and freedom from dis-ease. Ayurveda provides a models for diets, daily routines, spiritual practices, thoughts and beliefs, and even a secular model of spirituality that can be adopted by all aspirants.

This podcast is called “A Culture of Well-being” – Through it, I hope to offer solutions-based discussions on the Healthcare topics. Integrating ancient wisdom with modern insights to offer a unique perspective on removing the obstacles to health and optimizing the conditions for well-being by cultivating the healing power of Nature from within…

Nature complements life and life is meant to complement Nature. This is so; otherwise life wouldn’t exist on our Earth. The many millennia of an evolutionary relationship with the Earth have given rise to an intricate healing system that interacts and responds to our natural environment, foods and natural medicines in an adaptive way to prevent illness and overcome disease… The scope of this natural medicine is physical, mental/emotional, energetic, and spiritual.

Beyond this, I believe that humans are inherently Spiritual beings. This Spirituality encompasses the capacity for Self-love, Peace, Compassion, and Adaptability that can be developed and is key to healing mental and emotional ailments. Having discovered the efficacy of ancient Spiritual technologies through my journey, it is an honor to share this wisdom with all beings who seek it.
