Dr.‌ ‌Anup’s‌ ‌Holy‌ ‌Baked‌ ‌Chicken‌

A nourishing treat of finger-food for winter parties and football games ahead, this palate-pleasing dish is rich in spice and protein. The spices in the marinade stimulate digestive and circulatory activity in the body, and they are balanced by the cooling effects of yogurt and basil leaves.

  • 1-2 pounds of organic, free-range chicken thighs and/or wings
  • 1 Cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 Cup of fresh basil leaves, finely minced
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. coriander
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. clove
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. red chili powder

Combine yogurt and all spices; mix well. Let chicken—chopped into cubes or uncut—marinate in refrigerator for 4-12 hours. Pre-heat oven to 375° F. Season an oven-ready dish with coconut oil. Place marinated chicken in dish. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the middle of the chicken is at 165°F.
